The Institute has its overall objective, the reintegration into mainstream education of process. The Institute addresses the needs of persons who require upgrading of basic skills before attempting an entry into secondary and post secondary education. The major scope for the Nunquam Retro Institute for Renewed Education is to work with senior citizens in the different buildings in North York who follow within the definition of the City’s by-laws in terms of senior citizens. The secondary scope of the objective of the Institute is to help seniors who are isolated, neglected in these buildings to become once again productive members of our society. This is accomplished by providing them with new teaching skills or to put into practice their own skills by being involved as volunteers in the community. It is important to realize that senior citizens have achieved the highest level of intervention in our society. Many of them are willing to spend part of their leisure into an educational field in which they can reacquire certain skills, which will make them feel more in control. For example, computer skills, language skills in order to allow them to communicate with their peers and to give back to the community part of their skills, i.., teaching in turn young people or doing volunteer work.
