Computers @home is a project of the charity
Nunquam Retro.
Computers @home is a literacy program of Nunquam Retro a registered charity that places surplus computers into the homes of students and others mainly in the Jane/Finch area of the City of
Toronto for use as word processors.
In its fourth year, the project has been very successful.
Its goals continue to
be met and its services continue to be in high demand.
35 Shoreham Library
She was a remarkable woman who changed my life and the lives of many other people, “said councilor Peter Li Preti as he officially opened the Gizella Katona Library in the 35 shoreham senior’s building .
Christmas Parties
Christmas, for many people, is a time for celebration. For others, it is religious holiday. And for many, it is not such a happy time. The Institute for Renewed Education continues to organize Christmas parties for seniors in cooperation with their tenant’s councils.
Downsviews Symphony Concerts
This space is dedicated to the memory of Maestro Pietro Drago who conducted many classical concerts on behalf of the institute.
In fact, he started the Downsview Symphony Orchestra with limited funding from the Institute in 1989.
Since then residents have enjoyed four concerts per year at the Yorkwoods Auditorium and in the parks.

Thursday nights is Bingo night in the recreation room.
Many seniors have requested the Institute’s involvement in organizing these events.
Our volunteers transfer the bingo equipment, cards and other supplies to the buildings.
Special occasions are important in the life of a senior’s buildings.
Corn on the cob nights, strawberry festivals, special birthdays and anniversaries provide occasions for the residents to get together.
